Annette Funicello did not only perform and sing, she also acted. Her most well-known role was "one of the original Mouseketeers" from The Mickey Mouse Club. When she was in her teens Annette started singing and she became famous for the songs 'Tall Paul and Pineapple Princess'. Annette was raised in Utica by Italian-immigrant parents. She was shy as a young child. Since she wanted to pursue an enviable career in the field of entertainment she began performing as well as dancing. In the mid-1950s, she appeared in several 'Disney' sketches as part of one the "Mouseketeers" as well as gaining considerable popularity. Annette shed her Disney image in her adult years and began to take on roles for adults. She is best remembered as being among the very first actors to create the category of "beach party". The films she appeared in included 'Pajama Party', 'How to stuff a wild bikini', and 'Beach Party'. The singer also released her music albums periodically. Annette passed away in 2013, following receiving a diagnosis in the year 1992 of multiple sclerosis.
